Our Team

Jose Adan Gutierrez, CEO and President
Mr. Gutierrez is responsible for overall Serentek executive management and corporate strategy. He has more than 35 years of experience in the military, civilian and private sectors and is an expert in executive management, corporate strategy, business development, business operations and program management. Mr. Gutierrez is fluent in Spanish and possesses extensive intelligence, joint and interagency law enforcement coordination, port security and diplomatic experience in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America. Mr. Gutierrez also has more than twenty years of experience as a Naval Intelligence Officer, occupying sensitive US National Security positions at various levels of responsibility and leadership at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. Prior to founding Serentek International, Mr. Gutierrez held senior level positions at global technology companies including: Vice President (USSOUTHCOM and Latin America) at SAIC; Vice President (Latin America Programs) at MissionEssential and General Manager at INDETEC. Mr. Gutierrez holds a Masters Degree (National Security and Strategic Studies) from the Naval War College, a Masters Degree (Spanish and Latin American Studies) from New York University in Spain, and a BA (Spanish and Latin American Studies) from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Stephen R. Tiernay, Chief Operating Offcier (COO)
Mr. Tiernay directs all operational activities to promote overall business growth. His extensive background includes more than 30 years of experience (both military and civilian) in strategic planning, information technology, program management and business development. Prior to joining Serentek International, Mr. Tiernay held senior level positions at SAIC (Vice President, Afghanistan), Program Director at SAIC, and as Executive Director for BASC (Business Alliance for Secure Commerce). Mr. Teirnay also possesses extensive experience throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America. Mr. Tiernay’s military experience includes extensive human intelligence and tactical intelligence operations (with assignments in the US and in Stuttgart, Germany). Mr. Tiernay also served as a US Army Military Intelligence Officer for eight years.
